Coach & Referee Game Day Responsibilities

 

HOME COACHES:
1.  Come, or send someone, to the Referee Table and pick up a blank Game Card at least 15 minutes before your Game Time. U6 & U8 do not require a game card
2.  Fill in ONLY your roster (on the left side).
3.  Hand the card to the Visiting Coach.
4.  Read the Referee responsibilities so you will know what to expect.
5.  If there are no referees (U10 and older; there will not be referees at U6 & U8 games), start the game on time and END the game at the scheduled game end time, no later than 10 MINUTES BEFORE the NEXT GAME TIME!

NOTE: Home teams should set up on the south or west side of the field and parents/fans should not be on the end lines near the goals. Coaches and Fans WILL NOT be near the goal giving instruction or talking/yelling at players

VISITING COACHES:
1.  Receive the game card from the Home Coach.
2.  Fill in ONLY your roster (on the right side).
3.  Hand the card to the Referee.
4.  Read the Referee responsibilities so you will know what to expect.
5.  If there are no referees, start the game on time and END the game at the scheduled game end time, no later than 10 MINUTES BEFORE the NEXT GAME TIME!
6.  If there was no referee and the coaches managed the game, write the final score and “NO REFEREE” on the card and return the completed game card to the referee table.

NOTE: Visiting teams should set up on the north or east side of the field and parents/fans should not be on the end lines near the goals. Coaches and Fans WILL NOT be near the goal giving instruction or talking/yelling at players

REFEREES:
1.  DO NOT fill out a Game Card.  (It’s always advisable to have a blank card just in case.)
2.  Be at your field at least 15 minutes before your Game Time.
3.  Pick up the Game Card from the Visiting Coach.
4.  Fill out Location (field number), Date, Time, Age Group/Gender, Home and Away team names. (Gather this info from the referee table before you go to the field)
5.  Check in the players; NO JEWELRY!
6.  If the previous game is still going on 5 minutes before your Game Time, remind the referee crew to end their game on time
7.  Start the game on time if possible.
8.  Whatever happens, START YOUR WATCH at the GAME TIME!
9.  END the game at the scheduled game end time, no later than 10 MINUTES BEFORE the NEXT GAME TIME!

ASSISTANT REFEREES:
1.  BE PROACTIVE to help enforce the REFEREE’s responsibilities above.
2.  If needed, get the Referee’s attention to END your game 10 minutes before the next Game Time.  It is suggested you do this by holding your flag straight up and then pointing to your watch.
